So sad. This used to be one of my favorites dives to grab a takeout sandwich and go to the beach. Picked up a hot pastrami on rye and a tuna salad with jalapeños on wheat. The bread was definitely old and dry making it almost impossible to taste the fixings. Not sure what was wrong with the jalapeño but there was no bite to the sandwich. Unfortunately will be finding another place to dine

Best hotdog this side of the bridge! It's easy to miss, but once you walk in you can tell this place is a hidden gem. I've eaten there twice, both times I had the Chicago dog; doesn't disappoint. They definitely do not cut any corners; the protein is good quality, fries are hot (that's a deal breaker for the hubby!), and great service. Being pregnant, I'm not supposed to eat processed food, but made an exception for this classic. If you are in the area definitely order the homewrecker, you'll be glad you did!

It's an institution on Coleman Boulevard and for a very good reason. It's the kind of place you would find in Chicago, a no frills, down to business kind of place, serving up damn good hot dog's and sandwiches. It's one of the few places in the tri-county area where you can get an authentic style Chicago Dog (or two). My standard order is usually a chili cheese dog with a side of fries. They carry an array of sandwiches but when I go to Skoogies I specifically want a hot dog so I have yet to try any of them. The place is seriously tiny with a bar running the length of the room and a couple of tables inside and out. It can get a bit busy during lunch, which is a testament to how yummy it is, and if there is no place to sit, it's totally the kind of place where you can just park and eat in your car or sitting on the curb. I'm proud to say that "I Love Skoogies"!

Great Service, good food, big portions and low prices. Who could ask for more from a lunch spot?! It's a cute little nostalgic/ old fashioned place to congregate with your co-workers. A no frills type of place which I could easily frequent a few days a week. I had the Tuna Blt w/Seasoned Fries and a Lemonade. I will return to try out the hotdogs. My Tuna Blt was Better than most but nothing that floored me because I love fusion food!!! Maybe add avocado, some exotic spices even edible flowers. The tuna salad was nice! Moist and perfectly balanced with shredded lettuce, crunchy onions and celery, juicy beef steak tomatoes, salt and pepper on Rye Toast. The Seasoned fries were French fries with seasoned salt. Overall, a good place where you can eat good food daily.

Great staff, Great chili dog! Fries were so so - but when out and about a terrific place to pop in for a quick lunch. And truly, the nicest staff.

Very tasty chili cheese dog! I highly recommend! A great lunch for under $10.00. The seasoned fries are very tasty!

Why no green peppers, Skoogies? Being from Chicago, I find myself constantly craving the Italian beef sandwiches as synonymous with the town as the cold weather. Skoogies, thankfully, can handle that craving. The sandwiches at this little stand are quite good, though not quite perfect. They do have giardiniera and understand "dry," but there's no green peppers (a tragedy) and the bread isn't exact (but thats a tough one, I'll let them slide.) The fries are, however, a masterpiece of golden brown deliciousness. I can't express how much these need to be added to your life; they are perfectly fried and seasoned beautifully with just a little salt. You'll be surprised how fast the basket diminishes before your eyes.

If you're looking for the perfect little hot dog dive, this is it! Hot dogs are Chicago Style and the chili is home made. They also offer up an assortment of sandwiches. Great food!

A great little place with good dogs. I've only got one beef with these dogs (pun intended) - and it's that they use the boil method instead of grilling. Maybe that's the true Chicago way - I don't know, I've never been to Chicago. I like to see some burn marks as proof that the animal is "really most sincerely dead". But despite the absence of any grill lines, it was really good. All the toppings were fresh and the tomato was riper than anything that has ever been inside a grocery store. My kid called her hot dog "awesome" and she asked if we could come back. We certainly will.

Cannot beat these dogs. Try the chili cheese dog with seasoned fries. You won't leave disappointed.

Family favorite when we are in town (Atlanta) visiting Grandma. As close to a Chicago dog I have found outside of Chicago. Staff is wonderful, fries are delicious. Just do it.

Great sandwiches and yummy milkshakes! The younger ones didn't like the poppy seeds on their hot dog. Buns.... Kind of shocked since poppy seeds are a normal drug testing no no... Lol

Their glory days were 20 years ago. The quality has suffered and it is just not what it once was!

We went back a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed Skoogies even more this time. We had chili cheese fries and I had the Chicago Dog...all the way except for the kraut. These guys have it all together! It was packed and they were getting orders out at a great pace...The Vienna Dogs and Buns that they use are the best! Kudos...Do yourself a favor and check this place out...small, casual and inviting....plus other things on the menu too...maybe I will get something in addition to a dog...maybe.

Great little hot dog place. Within my group, we tried at least four types of dogs, and a pastrami sandwich. Everyone left happy. It's a nice little shop with a friendly staff.
